Koda

Koda | 10" x 8" oil on linen panel Flanegan | commission
I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Koda.
This painting was a combination of two photos, and apparent in both was her curious expression...the look pups have moments before given a treat!
Capturing her delightfully charming eyes was key - and quite intimidating. I'm happy with how she turned out.

  1. Doesn't it look like there's a huge brain in there. Is it any wonder
we talk to our dogs all the time. I just realized I'd bee patting
my dog and talking to her for five minutes asking her why we
loved her. She just stared at me as if to say "How could you not?"
True. This is a magnificent painting. Lucky owners of the painting
    and the adorable dog.

    XOXOXO Barbara

  2. You are very kind, Barbara, thank you.
In one of your recent posts about portraits, you mentioned how of you "like it when the person starts to seem present." So beautifully put.
Painting the eyes first stimulates dialogue - they always have something to say.
