low tide

6" x 9 11/16" latex on blended wood panel | nfs

"The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. One should lie empty, open and choiceless as a beach - waiting for a gift from the sea."
- Anne Morrow Lindbergh

Her timeless words of wisdom are as relevant today as they were 50+ years ago when she wrote Gift From The Sea...a book given to me by my ever-inspiring teacher, artist and dear friend, Stephanie Wilger. As if it were yesterday.

turquoise flora

6" x 9 11/16" oil and acrylic on blended wood panel | nfs

I decided to do a series of constructs based on the golden section, that classic proportion found all around us. Here's a detail of my favorite part...

To keep the creative juices flowing when you feel all squeezed out, experience has taught me to alternate simplicity with complexity.

Recently I finished a painting in which I was especially emotionally attached. For weeks I dabbled, knowing it wasn't quite right...sanding over it...cutting it in half...at long last, complete.

ducktail

12" x 36" acrylic on wood panel | sold

Ducktail was one of my paintings that sold at the Pulling Together Art Benefit last Sunday. Thanks to all who braved the cold, rainy weather to support local artists and our community's food pantry, Helping Hands. Special thanks to Chris Smartt and Irene Anderson of Sol'stice Garden Expressions who hosted the event. You guys rock!
