Caboose

Caboose | oil on panel | 12" x 12"  Flanegan
I must have set up and moved my easel four or five times...but I was determined to celebrate this beautiful day in paint...hanging out with some of my four-legged friends. Thumper says hi!

There are basically two types of people. People who accomplish things, and people who claim to have accomplished things. The first group is less crowded.

whiskey tango foxtrot | oil on panel | 24" x 39" Flanegan | commission
This painting, which began as a commission for a friend, grew in size and meaning to be a commission/gift combo for her and her husband. Somewhere along the way, it became a bit of a political commentary - you tell me what Thumper and company are thinking.

How could one not be affected by the presidential campaign? The pasture was painted during the September debate...I had no words for the performance, only brushstrokes.

May God give us the strength to unite as a nation no matter who is elected President.

Last year I donated this painting to a fundraising silent auction and my friend won the bid. I love this view of the rolling hills in Dripping Springs, especially during the last hours of the day, and plan to paint it again soon.

I had forgotten to get a shot of the painting until last night, thank you Kristi!

Stormy Brew Crew

Stormy Brew | 13" x 13"on wood panel floated in angle iron frame Flanegan | $495

Wednesday was the opening of Plein Air Austin's Annual Show which is on view at the Dougherty Arts Center through the first week of July. It was a fabulous night and I was grateful to have my friends from Round Rock, Austin, Dripping Springs and Wimberley all together and surrounded by cool art by talented local painters. Thanks so much for taking time out of your crazy busy schedules!

Here's a shot of my friend Judy gifted poet and graphic designer and me. Thank you Donna another amazing designer for taking this picture! At openings I'm usually busy having fun and forget to take photos. And happy 20th wedding anniversary to Shannon + John awesome artist + software wiz who shared their special day with us!!

The sky has more blue in this photo than what I see on my panel - maybe because I shot it outside - cooler light source. Any other painters out there paint earlier in the day (lighter or brighter) than what they see? This field was more subdued, but I love this raw sienna straight out of the tube right now. Like caramel...time for some ice cream.
